The House Youth Leadership Network (HYLN) is a student-led initiative dedicated to increasing civic literacy, representation, and youth engagement in government. Our mission is to empower high school students across the country by partnering with congressional offices to establish Youth Advisory Councils that give young people a voice in their democracy.
We believe that youth are not just the leaders of tomorrow, they are the stakeholders of today. Through mentorship, dialogue, and hands-on opportunities to learn from public servants, HYLN aims to ensure that every congressional district provides a seat at the table for its youngest constituents.
The House Youth Leadership Network's Goals:
Empower Youth Voices
We work to ensure that young people have a direct line to their elected representatives. Through local Youth Advisory Councils, students gain the tools, confidence, and platforms to share their perspectives on issues that matter.
Promote Civic Literacy
We support the creation of Youth Advisory Councils that encourage students to actively engage with civic issues, ask critical questions, and better understand how government affects their lives and communities.
Foster Government -Youth Collaboration
By building bridges between congressional offices and high school students, we create opportunities for mutual learning. Representatives hear from future voters, and students gain insight into how decisions are made and how to influence them.
Build a Community of Young Leaders
We aim to create a national network of civically engaged youth who support one another, collaborate across districts, and continue their commitment to public service well beyond high school.
